Who is it for?

This qualification is ideal for volunteers working at spectator events who assist and support more experienced event staff.

Course Aims and Objective:

This qualification aims to:
• Focus on the study of a Steward at spectator events
• Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge.

The objectives of this qualification are to give the knowledge and
understanding to:
•Prepare for spectator events
• Assist with the movement of spectators and deal with crowd issues at
events
• Manage and resolve conflicts
• Deal with incidents at spectator events
• Support the work of the team and organizations

Qualification Purpose

The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding required to enter the Spectator Safety sector. The qualification is mapped to the SkillsActive Spectator Safety NOS suite 2019.

Course Content

  • Know how to prepare for spectator events
  • Know how to assist with the movement of spectators and deal with crowd issues at events
  • Know how to help to manage and resolve conflicts
  • Know how to deal with incidents at spectator events
  • Know how to support the work of your team and organization

Assessment

  • Multiple-choice or short written assessments for each unit
  • Scenario-based questions
  • No formal exam; the qualification is assessed internally and quality assured externally

Progression

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety
    • NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety Supervision

Upon completion of this qualification, learners will meet the requirements of
Section 4.10b of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds, ‘Green Guide’ in
England and Wales and ‘Red Guide’ in Northern Ireland.

Learners should undertake further training and assessment of competence
to obtain the Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety, if wishing to continue in employment in the sector.

SIA Security Guard Licence

This is a four days training, it allows you apply for a security guarding licence

SIA Close protection Licence

15 days training allows you to apply for close protection licence
